BAPTISM
Saint Gilbert Catholic Church and our faith community share in your joy as you bring forth your child for the Sacrament of Baptism. Parishioners with a child(ren) to be baptized are asked to attend a one-hour Baptismal Preparation Session. These Sessions support parents as they prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism and are currently held in a virtual online meeting room. A Baptism date is selected and confirmed upon completion of the Baptismal Preparation Session. Parents are encouraged to attend before your child is born. Please contact the Rectory at (847) 223-4731, or fill out the online Contact Form, to schedule a Baptismal Preparation Session or inquire about Baptism Preparation at Saint Gilbert.

Baptisms are scheduled in the main church at the following times:
Saturday, 5:00PM OR Sunday, 11:00AM at a Mass
Sunday, 1:00PM at a Group Service
FIRST COMMUNION
Children in Second Grade together with their parents or guardians prepare to celebrate this Sacrament. During the year, among other things, the children study the meaning of the Mass focusing especially on the mystery of receiving the bread and wine. Parents attend two meetings and participate in a half-day Saturday retreat with their child (Jesus Day) in preparation for receiving this Sacrament.
